Plot
In the early 20th century, China is plagued by warlords and corruption, and the people suffer under the yoke of oppressive rule. This is the world of "Let the Bullets Fly," a Chinese film that tells the story of Jueyan (played by Jiang Wen), an outlaw with a troubled past and a penchant for violence. When Jueyan stumbles upon a small town in need of a strong leader, he seizes the opportunity to impersonate the county governor. Jueyan is aided in his deception by his knowledge of official documents and his ability to convincingly assume the demeanor of a respected leader. The townsfolk are initially wary of him, but Jueyan's charm and charisma eventually win them over. As tensions between Jueyan and Huang Jaisheng escalate, the two men engage in a series of escalating confrontations, each one more brutal and violent than the last. Huang Jaisheng will not be defeated without a fight, and he unleashes his henchmen on Jueyan, who is forced to fend off the attacks with his cunning and his gun. Despite the danger that surrounds him, Jueyan remains committed to his mission to bring justice to the town. He continues to secretly work against Huang Jaisheng's interests, using his wealth and resources to benefit the people. As the conflict between Jueyan and Huang Jaisheng reaches its climax, the entire town is drawn into the conflict. The people, who have grown to trust Jueyan, begin to take sides, and the air is thick with tension and anticipation. In the end, it is Jueyan who emerges victorious, having outwitted and outgunned Huang Jaisheng in a thrilling showdown. With Huang Jaisheng defeated, Jueyan is finally able to reveal his true identity to the people, and he is hailed as a hero. His legend grows, and he becomes a folk hero, a Robin Hood figure who has brought justice to the town and hope to its people.
