Paranormal Activity 2 takes place before the events of the first film, providing valuable backstory to the couple's encounters with the mysterious and terrifying force. Daniel's intentions are initially rooted in skepticism and a desire to prove his theory that their home is being haunted by a paranormal entity. As time progresses, the mysterious events escalate, and Daniel and Kristi become increasingly fearful and desperate.
