The Odd Life of Timothy Green

Plot
The Odd Life of Timothy Green is a 2012 American fantasy drama film directed by Peter Hedges, which tells the story of two childless parents, Cindy Green and Jim Green, played by Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton. The film begins with the couple's struggles to start a family, having been advised by doctors that their inability to conceive is due to an unknown reason. The couple decides to bury a box in their backyard containing notes and wishes for a child. This peculiar ritual has been inspired by a local legend that when a person writes their true desires on a piece of paper and buries it, the universe somehow grants their wish. Overwhelmed with sadness and desperation, the couple hopes that this act will bring them closer to their dream of becoming parents. As time passes, the family starts to notice strange things happening in their backyard. On a stormy night, they see a boy, about 10 years old, emerging from the ground. The family soon learns that they have been given a miraculous gift - a child. This child, Timothy Green, grows at a rapid pace and quickly forms a strong bond with his parents, Cindy and Jim. On the other hand, James Arness and Judith Moore's grandchildren, Joni and Ronnie were adopted at two years of age. James Arness and Judith Moore's children had died from polio at two years of age. The story of James and Judith's grandchildren has no relevance to the Timothy. They play a minor, and somewhat awkward part in the beginning of the movie, but disappear and never reappear.
